Energy Village Connections Center
A New Vision for Downtown Eugene:
Energy Village proposes a new building for downtown that establishes an urban identity that captures the attention of people looking for a place where they can live, work and play.
The Connections Center creates a space that embodies the philosophy of creativity and independence that Eugene is known for and plays it forward in a way that is edgy and truly progressive.
Connections Center is a mixed-use facility with centralized arts, education and healing services and a community center financially supported by storefronts, businesses, restaurants, and community housing.
The location facing the Eugene Public Library, the size of the development lot, and the call for open space afford a broad flexibility in design. We are exploring design concepts from a diverse array of sources, and the participants in this venture will have broad flexibility in designing their space for their needs.
Energy Village believes in paying attention to details, from architecture, to landscaping, and to the contents of the programs and services made available; all are carefully designed for the optimal benefits of the community.
Connections Center addresses a number of issues concerning downtown:
Education programs
Mentorships directed towards downtown youth
Community housing
Sustainable business practices
Rooftop gardens and public park space
Museum of modern art
The Energy Village Project for Downtown Eugene is an outgrowth of Energy Village [nonprofit status pending] founded by Susanna Meyer in the late 1990s. This has been an ongoing project to foster interdisciplinary exchange of ideas and create bonds of understanding within communities and throughout the world. Energy Village has enlisted minds and creative energies from many places, including Los Angeles, Eugene, Oregon, Switzerland, and England.
The Future is Now: from the start Energy Village had it’s eyes on the world.
Building awareness of linkages, fostering the evolution of relationships, releasing creative energies—these are the functions of Energy Village.
