To whom it may concern
Energy Village is a non-profit International Movement incorporated in California. We are dedicated to nurturing communities by inspiring curiosity, creativity and collaboration. I am contacting you in my role as Energy Village’s founder and capital campaign spokesperson for our latest community initiative “Putting the Village back into the city” which I hope you will consider supporting.
The project
Together with our partners, Energy Village has drafted a plan to help revive the downtown center of Eugene. Currently the area around the library is one of the favorite places for young people to ‘hang out’, many consider them a nuisance; however we recognize they represent intelligence waiting to be channeled. Having thoroughly consulted our community, developers and the city we are proposing to build and operate a new ‘Village’ centre and housing unit, which will not only provide a space for tailor made after school programming but also create a new community business Hub in the form of an ‘Action Market’, an information centre, public park and performing arts stage.
The Village Centre we are proposing to build will be situated across from the library and is modeled along the lines of an “interdisciplinary collaborative demonstration” a pioneering green, sustainable project designed by our construction and planning partners. Together with our partnering organizations (see appendix) we best exemplify the diverse groups that one can find already working in this community. We simply wish to have the opportunity and resources required to work closer together, to release this as yet, untapped local potential from the grass roots up.
We can demonstrate how your support will create new jobs, create truly affordable housing, new learning opportunities, skills exchanges and ultimately help define this community as vibrant, inclusive, enterprising neighborhood; one that other neighborhoods nationally can rightfully
aspire to.
The Partners
Please see the attached appendix, which lists project details pertaining to our collaborators and offers further background in relation to our partners.
Investment required
We are currently engaged in a capital campaign for private investment, which we then hope to match with public funds.
Background
Further background material can be supplied upon request.
I hope you will take the time to learn more about our work and be moved to contact me with your thoughts.
Sincerely yours,
Susanna Joy Meyer
