Energy Village Proposal
We are a collective of people and businesses that want to have a building downtown. These are some examples of what would be in the building:
• Teen Center
• Interfaith Center
• Dance and Yoga Studio
• Local businesses (i.e. Better Yet)
• Child care and after school programs
• Job opportunities for all people as well as jobs for college graduates
• Veteran Support Center
• Office space for Non-profits
• Resource center
• Tourist info desk
• Recording Studio
• Band practice rooms
• Creative and cozy conference rooms
• Organic vegetarian restaurant
• Permaculture and Sustainable living education center with on site garden, compost and green house
• Intergenerational learning and sharing opportunities
• Visions 21, a spiritual school for adults
• Coffee house/ All ages Music venue
We would like this center to help promote already existing programs and businesses in Eugene and not to take away from them. This would be a place for people to go and find out what is happening, available jobs, and opportunities to volunteer and get involved.
This building would have solar panels and any other sustainable green energy solutions that would be available. All of the products used within the building would be non-toxic and environmentally friendly. All of the furniture and any other supplies needed would be purchased from companies who are sustainable and earth friendly.
This center would also act as a way to connect with different people, places, organizations, businesses, and events happening all over the world with similar focuses.
This is a global movement that is already happening. This movement is centered in sustainability, the arts, yoga/tai chi/creative movement and alternative medicine, interfaith copperation and respect, non-violent communication and healing among groups and people, local organic food and crafts, creative programs for kids and adults, permaculture, spiritual education, and the creation of peace in our communities. We believe Eugene is in a great position to join this movement because we have so much available space in the heart of our city and so many people willing to work on the creation of healthy, vibrant, and peaceful downtown.
We are ready to make our city and our downtown vibrant!
